HIGH-OCTANE acrobatics, circus skills performers pushed to their very limits, edge of seat physical theatre for adventurous spirits, be they families or individuals - the Galway International Aerts Festival has a double dose of it all.
Australia's Gravity & Other Myths present Backbone, directed by Darcy Grant, is a thrilling exploration of human strength, where 10 skilled acrobats literally and figuratively throw around the perception (and themselves ) of what strength is, where it comes from, and how it is measured. Expect both disciplined virtuosity and choreography from Tuesday July 17 to Saturday 21 at 7pm (matinee July 21 ).
Circa, also from Australia, presents Humans. Created by director Yaron Lifschitz and the Circa Ensemble, it will see 10 acrobats explore the physical limits of their bodies, questioning how much they can take as humans, and what it means to be humans. See it from Tuesday July 24 to Sunday 29 at 7pm.
Both shows will be performed in the Bailey Allen Hall, NUI Galway. For tickets see www.giaf.ie, call 091 - 566577, or from the festival box office, Galway Tourist Office, Forster Street.
