Wyvern Lingo - new single, two Galway shows

GIAF 2018 and Róisín Dubh shows from Wicklow RnB/soul trio

WYVERN LINGO, possibly the best band in Ireland right now, released their new single 'Crawl' earlier this month, and play two shows in the city this year, including one at the Galway International Arts Festival.

Wyvern Lingo will support Walking On Cars at the Big Top, Fisheries Field, on Sunday July 21, before returning to play their own headline show at the Róisín Dubh on Friday September 14 8pm.

The Wicklow trio of Saoirse Duane (guitars/vocals ), Caoimhe Barry (drums, vocals ), and Karen Cowley (bass/synth, vocals ) have rightfully earned high praise since the release of their eponymous debut album earlier this year. Atwood Magazine called it "a spellbinding sonic journey rich with warm, dazzling harmonies and deep, moving rhythms"; The Thin Air called it "a remarkable, all-killer tour de force from undoubtedly the country’s finest fast-rising band”; while Nialler9 declared the trio “the most exciting Irish prospect at the moment".

Speaking to me in March, Saoirse explained the influences behind their sharp, modern, RnB/soul sound. “We grew up listening to seventies rock and blues as well as Destiny’s Child,” she said, “then later great singers like Aretha Franklin and Ella Fitzgerald. Anything bluesy and soulful, we’re hooked! It’s in our blood, that’s our bread and butter and it comes out in our own music.”
