JOHNNY GALLAGHER, widely recognised as one of the finest guitarists in Ireland, returns to Galway for a show promising pure rock'n'roll through original material and Johnny's personal take on the classics.
Johnny Gallagher & The Boxtie Band, which features Johnny's twin brothers Pauric and James Gallagher, play Monroe’s on Friday June 29 at 11pm. The band is based in Donegal and have played at festivals and clubs across the continent.
"Myself, Pauric, James and Sean have a force that doesn't appear out of nowhere," says Johnny. "It's like an ageing process that takes time to mature. We sometimes rock, and we sometimes roll, but that's the magic at all the live shows. With James's punchy bottom lines and Sean's groovy swing, Pauric has the freedom to boogie woogie and lay down his melodies, giving me the scope for improvisation. To jam it out...and it also gives the audience the power to express themselves. That's the ultimate connection, that's what its all about."
