Kyne hails new An Cheathru Rua hub as boost to employment

Minister Seán Kyne has welcomed the opening of a new digital hub in An Cheathru Rua.

The digital hub is supported by Udaras na Gaeltachta and is part of the organisation’s Gaetacht Digital Network – Gréasán na Gaeltachta.

Commented Minister Kyne said that this is the fourth Udaras-supported digital hub and the first of three planned for Galway’s Gaeltacht with new hubs set to open in Carna and An Spidéal later this year.

“Digital hubs, with shared working spaces, office facilities and hot desks, have become essential in nurturing and supporting start-ups as well as helping established businesses to expand.

“The hubs attract and foster innovation and there are many examples of businesses which have started in similar facilities and have grown significantly.

“The new G-Teic hub at An Cheathru Rua will provide flexibility alongside a supportive atmosphere which will help boost local employment as well as the Irish language.” he said, adding that the establishment and expansion of G-Teic hubs are one of Udaras na Gaeltachta’s key actions from the Realising Our Rural Potential Action Plan for Rural Ireland which is co-ordinated by the Department of Rural and Community Development.
