Festival weekend to celebrate 75 years of Shantalla

Shantalla is to hold the second Shantalla Festival Weekend after last year’s success. This one will be extra special as it marks the 75th year of Shantalla.

The Festival Weekend will be held May 27 and 28 and will include barbeques, bouncy-castles, family activities, a five-a-side tournament, a poc fada competition and a cards night.

Speaking at the launch, Shantalla Residents Association chairperson Oliver Burke said they are “looking forward to a great weekend where we can meet our neighbours, have a great time for all the family, and enjoy the best entertainment Shantalla has to offer.

“We hope that our community and friends of our community will have a great weekend,” he said.

The busiest day of the weekend will be Saturday with the five-a-side tournament taking place during the day at the Shantalla pitch beside the community centre. There will also be children’s entertainment and a poc fada competition on the Saturday before a prizegiving ceremony taking place in the Sliding Rock Bar in the evening.

Sunday will see a cards competition being held in Cooke’s Thatch Bar from 3pm onward. All funds raised will go towards supporting the local community employment scheme and the activities of the residents association.
