Coilguns - Swiss metal/hardcore for FEAST

Get up close and personal with one of Europe's leading DIY bands

COILGUNS, standard bearers of the 2.0 DIY metal/hardcore scene since 2011, when they accidentally formed with the purpose of playing fast and simple music, make their third visit to Ireland this weekend.

The Swiss band - featuring members of Louis Jucker solo, Closet Disco Queen, and Kunz - play the next FEAST gig at the Róisín Dubh this Saturday at 9.30pm. The band first came to attention with with their debut EP which was a homemade screenprinted release, and packed in PVC food bags.

In 2012 guitarist Jona Nido founds his own label, Hummus Records, which has issued more than 50 releases, including all Coilguns music. The band four EPs and two albums, Commuters (2013 ) and Millennials (2018 ). They record their music live and uncut, generally written and recorded on the spot wherever they were at the moment. More recently they recorded and mixed tracks at a secluded house in the German countryside without any computer involved.

Also on the bill are Irish heavy metal/hardcore quartet Bailer, who released their, new, eponymous EP, in February. They have won acclaim in Metal Hammer, Kerrang!, Metal Injection, and That's Not Metal. They also toured Russia earlier this year.
