Fred Cooke headlines the Comedy KARLnival

Johnny Graham and Michael Rice to join Karl Spain for the weekly laugh-fest

AT ONE time, Fred Cooke was known as ‘Fergus’ from the Spar TV ads, but more recently he has become a popular stand-up, MC of The Tommy Tiernan Show, and a contributor to Republic of Telly, The Café, The Savage Eye, and The Modest Adventures of David O’Doherty.

Fred makes a welcome return to Galway when he headlines the Comedy KARLnival at the Róisín Dubh on Tuesday May 22 at 8.45pm. He has performed at the Cat Laughs and Edinburgh Fringe festivals and supported Ardal O’Hanlon, Dara Ó Brian, Ross Noble, Jason Byrne, Neil Delamere, Des Bishop, and Tommy Tiernan, who said: “I love Fred, he has the real spirit of the clown in him”.

Also on the bill is Johnny Graham, who co-hosts “Ireland’s Smallest Comedy Club” in Galway city. He has won the Show Me The Funny 2012 and Tedfest Toilet Duck 2017 awards. As well as supporting Dave McSavage and the Rubberbandits, he has also made a number of popualr YouTube videos, including Man Flu: The Truth, which has received over a million hits.

Support is from Michael Rice, who began stand-up comedy in Chicago. Now back in Ireland, he has played major clubs in Dublin, Barcelona, and London, and the Edinburgh Fringe, and the Vodafone Comedy Carnival.

The MC is Karl Spain. Tickets are €5 in advance from OMG@Zhivago, Shop Street; Roisin Dubh; and www.roisindubh.net, or €7 at the door.
