Cork got the better of Galway to win this year's All-Ireland Minor A Camogie title by 0-18 to 1-11 in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh.
Galway had kept in touch throughout this evenly matched contest until the Leesiders took control in the final quarter to claim victory.
Cork had taken an early point lead before Niamh Niland levelled for Galway from a seventh-minute free. Although Galway’s senior goalie Sarah Healy made an excellent save, Cork moved ahead with two points.
However Galway responded well and were level from the next attack, with Chloe Reilly providing the lethal goal finish from a Siobhán McGrath pass. And then the Tribeswomen went in front when Niamh Horan finished on the run from the left with another point.
It was not long before Cork replied with a Saoirse McCarthy 60m free to bring them level, and it was nip and tuck from there to the interval.
On three occasions Cork moved in front, but Horan, Niland and Horan ensured the teams were deadlocked at the break, 0-8 to 1-5.
Cork edged ahead once more after the interval, but Galway again put their noses in front by the 38th minute with points from Reilly and a Niland brace. Tegan Canning stretched the lead to two as Lorraine Larkin’s crew had all the momentum.
Cork, known for their strong finishes, moved up another level when Rachel O’Regan was introduced. She struck two points and set up another for Fiona Keating, but still Galway kept in touch with two pointed frees from McGrath. In the end, however, McCarthy's accurate shooting from placed balls gave the Leesiders the victory and the title.
