Julian Gough to launch new novel in Galway

Connect declared 'a work of genius' by Donal Ryan

JULIAN GOUGH, the author of Juno and Juliet, Jude: Level 1, and Jude In London, will next week launch his new novel, Connect, in Charlie Byrne's Bookshop, Middle Street.

Julian, today based in Berlin, but forever associated with Galway due to his time as lead vocalist of the legendary Galway indie band Toasted Heretic, launches Connect on Friday May 4 at 6.30pm. Speaking ahead of the launch, Julian said: "It's by far the best thing I have ever written. Even if you hated all my other books, you might like this one: great story, and it moves like a train."

The author is not being immodest. Acclaimed author Donal Ryan has also spoken highly of Connect, saying: “It really is a work of genius. It confronts and explores the nature of humanness and existence in a thrilling, immersive, addictive way, and marks Julian out as a prophet among writers.”

The Irish Times' Michael Harding has declared: “This is a novel of enormous danger and risk. A narrative beyond the quiet formalities and psychodramas of much literary fiction. It is full of ideas and possibilities about the future and the nature of humanity itself. But it is in the lightness of the writing, the compelling force of the narrative that the author achieves real brilliance. Gough has undoubtedly arrived, as a master storyteller.”

Admission is free and all are welcome to the launch.
