Triple Olympian in Galway this weekend

Triple Olympic water polo gold medalist, Gergely Kiss from Hungary, will be the special guest at the Irish u-14 Water Polo Cup in the NUIG Kingfisher pool this weekend.
Kiss won gold medals at successive Olympic Games in 2000, 2004, 2008 and will attend the tournament in Galway on Saturday from 4pm and Sunday from 10am.

Galway City Harriers athletes Brian O’Connor and Regina Casey took the honours in a hilly 10k course on Sunday in the Clonbur/ Cong area in a race in aid of the Zambia Housing Project.
O’Connor led from the gun, but found himself with a battle on his hands at 7km mark when joined by Noel Gibbons. An sprint finish saw O’Connor hold off his challenger for a three-second win in 36.27.

Galway hurling is due to announce the starting 15 tonight (Thursday) after training for the eagerly anticipated clash with Clare in Cusack Park on Sunday (2pm).
There is some doubt over team captain Fergal Moore, who is struggling with a groin injury, while Tony Óg Regan has been out of training with a bout of flu. Cyril Donnellan is also still suspended from league action.
