The finals of the Galway Parks tennis competition took place at the Galway Lawn Tennis Club on Friday July 24. A total of eight venues hosted tennis camps for the previous four weeks, culminating in the competition finale last Friday.

It was a bitter-sweet day for the Galway Tribesmen Rugby League club on Saturday. Creating history when hosting the first Munster/Connacht Rugby League final outside of Limerick, the Tribesmen also fell short against the Titans of Limerick by 28-18.
It is the second year in a row the Galway team has has fallen to the seven-times winner at this stage of the competition.

Galway's U16 girls are into the All-Ireland final after defeating Ulster champions Tyrone in Carrick-on-Shannon by 2-14 to 1-10.
They will now play Kerry in the final which is set for Wednesday July 29 at a venue to be confirmed.

Following their lacklustre draw last Sunday (0-7 to 1-4) in the Connacht final against Sligo at Hyde Park, the Galway minor footballers and, especially their forward division, have a chance to redeem themselves at Tuam Stadium tomorrow evening in the replay (Friday 7pm).
The Galway defence was impressive in the drawn game. Conceding one point in the first 20 minutes, they held the Sligo forwards well in the last quarter of the game too, with Barna's Ian Kent giving a very solid display.

Morley, who plays out of Oughterard Golf Club, was the top Connacht finisher at the championship with a four over par overall, and rounds of 73, 75, and 72.
