Shane Walsh, a nominee last season for Young Footballer of the Year, received a warm reception when he was introduced for the last few minutes of the All-Ireland qualifier last Saturday in Salthill.
Walsh’s return from a broken bone in his hand is a timely boost for the Galway squad as they prepare for their 4B qualifier game against Donegal on Saturday week in Croke Park (6pm ).
Team manager Kevin Walsh was pleased to have the Kilkerrin/Clonberne man back in harness.
“It’s great to see him back and he’s probably been missed over the last six weeks. He’s a fine athlete and a fine young gentleman. Shane has stuck to the process of getting back to himself and he’s been working hard.”
Walsh will be pushing hard for a starting place in nine days, but even if he does not start, it gives the management team options if things are not going as well as planned.
