On sale will be cup cakes, chocolate truffles, knitted goods, handmade jewellery, finely crafted bespoke greeting cards, colourful candles, wooden framed mirrors, and clocks, painted glass suncatchers, second-hand books, and unique copyrighted T-shirts and bags. Colouring-in pages and tubs of crayons are readily available to keep small hands occupied while parents shop.

The Drawing and Visual Inquiry course at Galway Technical Institute will have its end of year exhibition at NUI Galway gallery starting on May 12 running until May 26. This is a Level 6 course and offers progression from art portfolio preparation and from other related Level 5 or higher courses.

The event is chaired by Deirdre Somers, Chief Executive of the Irish Stock Exchange (ISE) and speakers include Mr. Justice Peter Kelly of the Commercial Court and Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor of the Ohio Supreme Court.

Fifteen NUI Galway School of Medicine research students were recently awarded Summer Student Scholarships by the Health Research Board (HRB). The aim of the HRB Summer Student Scholarships is to encourage an interest in health research and to give students an opportunity to become familiar with the research process, research techniques and methodologies through conducting a summer project. The students will be supervised by academic and clinical staff at NUI Galway and Galway University Hospital and at the School Affiliated teaching Academies.

According to new research, Irish people are currently in the doldrums and badly in need of an uplift. The results of a Dulux ‘Mood of the Nation’ Ipsos MRBI Poll released on April 19 showed 72 per cent of people believe the mood of the nation to be low or very low, with a further 80 per cent believing Irish communities are badly in need of an uplift.
