Cairnes School of Business and Economics. In these demanding times, insights into enabling, encouraging and supporting human behaviour from Social marketing provides new ways to successfully tackle social and public issues in, for example, health, the environment, the community, and policy formulation.

Social marketing is the application of marketing concepts and techniques to achieve specific behavioural goals for a social good. Social marketing has already had considerable success in tackling issues such as obesity, smoking, cancer screening, recycling and road safety in countries including the USA, Canada, Britain, France, New Zealand and Australia. For example, Social marketing underpinned the recent Get Your Life in Gear Safefood intervention to tackle male obesity for truck drivers in a work setting across Ireland, resulting in positive behavioural change around food choices and physical activity.

CPC hits the 10,000 mark in new drivers trained for business

CPC.IE, Ireland’s CPC specialists have now trained 10,000 drivers in their “nationally acclaimed” Driver and Transport Management CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) courses. Kerry-based CPC.IE have been delivering Transport Training Courses for 25 years at 30 venues throughout the country.

All professional truck and bus drivers must now attend a one day training course per year and according to Tony Hynes of CPC.IE, whilst a lot of drivers were hesitant and sceptical about the course initially, the feedback has been brilliant. The 10,000 drivers who have attended the Driver CPC modules with CPC.IE are extremely enthusiastic about the course and have praised the practicality of the content. In the current economic environment operators have been very impressed with the cost savings which can be applied to the bottom line.
