Supermac’s is hosting its annual charity fundraiser on November 25 at the LoughRea Hotel & Spa and this year proceeds will be in aid of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI). In Ireland, one in seven women will develop breast cancer during their lifetime. It is the second most common cancer in Irish women after skin cancer and the most common cancer in women over 50.

Bundee named new Brand Ambassador for Supermacs

Bundee Aki has been announced as the new Brand Ambassador for the Supermac’s Fresh Range of Irish Beef and Chicken. This is the brand’s third association with rugby legends having previously worked with John Muldoon and Sean O’Brien.

John J Taaffe and his wife Henrietta came to Galway in the mid-1920s from Co Cork. He had been associated with Bantry Woolen Mills which unfortunately went out of business when the factory was burnt down during the War of Independence. With his background in the textiles business, it was probably natural for John to set up a drapery shop at Number 12 William Street. As you can see from the beautiful Gaelic script on the façade, he was a fan of the Irish language. He and Henrietta had five children, Joseph, Eddie, Netta, Una, and Flo.

118th outlet as Supermac’s opens tomorrow in Wexford

Ireland’s largest group of family restaurants, Supermac’s, will open its first outlet in Co Wexford this coming Friday (June 28). The company has 117 outlets throughout the country and is set to open its 118th in Larkins Cross. The new outlet will be operated by Paul O’ Brien, who also holds franchises for Carlow and Killarney.
