Erris Beo, a marketing initiative to promote Erris as a prime tourist destination, was this week launched by the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, Martin Cullen TD. This launch will hopefully drive tourism and growth in the Erris area. Partners in the project are Aras Inis Gluaire, Broadhaven Bay Hotel, Erris Tourism, Iorras Domhnann, UISCE, Western Strands, and it is supported by Fáilte Ireland. Is your club/organisation planning to submit an application for Lotto funding in 2009? If you are then you should attend a workshop on Monday November 10 at 8pm in the Mayo Education Centre which will guide you through the ins and outs of filling out an application form for this scheme. Joe Butler from the Mayo Football League will guide participants through the process.

This year the 16 days of action opposing violence against women will run from November 25 to December 10 and to highlight this Cosgallen CDP are running an event called In Her Shoes. This involves having a shoe display on a shop window with each pair of shoes representing one woman who has been murdered in Ireland since 1996 as a result of domestic violence. To facilitate this event Cosgallen would be grateful if local people would drop old unwanted ladies’ shoes into their office or into O’Connell’s Pharmacy, Main Street, Swinford.
