This year the 16 days of action opposing violence against women will run from November 25 to December 10 and to highlight this Cosgallen CDP are running an event called In Her Shoes. This involves having a shoe display on a shop window with each pair of shoes representing one woman who has been murdered in Ireland since 1996 as a result of domestic violence. To facilitate this event Cosgallen would be grateful if local people would drop old unwanted ladies’ shoes into their office or into O’Connell’s Pharmacy, Main Street, Swinford.
Family law talk
Solicitor Deirdre McHugh will conduct a talk on family law in the Gateway Hotel, Swinford on Thursday night November 27 at 7.30pm. Two buses will run on the night, one from Cloontia, Carracastle, Charlestown and Barnacouige and the other from Killasser and Meelick.
