Mayo County Council’s EXCEL 08 is a developmental programme of arts events for teenagers and young adults across the county which will take place this month.
A number of free open events have been arranged in the county including the forthcoming: performing poetry in the Ballina Arts Centre with poet Tony Curtis on November 11 from 10am to 11.15am and in the Louisburgh Library on the same day from 2pm to 3.15pm.
A music panel talk for aspiring musicians will take place in Ballina Arts Centre with Jon Richards (Galway Bay FM ), Steve Reddy (FMC ) and Shane Power (Guggenheim Grotto ) on Saturday November 15 from 1pm to 3pm.
Hip-hop workshops with Jen Fleenor and animation lunchbox workshops with the Galway Film Centre will take place in Áras Inis Gluaire, Belmullet on Saturday November 22 from 11am to 1pm and from 2pm to 4pm.
A portfolio preparation talk with an expert panel (Joe Wilson, NCAD; Alice Lyons, GMIT; and Terry Leahy, LSAD ) who will provide information on portfolio preparation for young people wishing to go to art college in the Mayo Education Centre, Castlebar, Thursday November 27 at 9.30am and again at 11.30am.
