Mayo Mountain Rescue Team were involved in a successful search for four missing Dutch tourists on New Year’s day who had become lost while walking the Letterkeen Loop walking trail in the Nephin Beg Mountain Range in North Mayo.

Corrib gas wells completed and ready for production

Five wells needed to supply the Corrib gas terminal at Bellanaboy have been completed and made ready for production. Completion work on the wells was finalised on December 10 by the Sedco 711 drilling rig which has been operating at the Corrib field since early May.

Aer Lingus returns to Ireland West Knock with Gatwick connection

Ireland West Airport Knock has welcomed Aer Lingus’s return to the west of Ireland following agreement to commence an Aer Lingus London Gatwick service in April 2009. The decision will provide the airport and the region with interlinking capabilities connecting business interests and tourism traffic in both directions. It will add an additional 127,000 annual seat capacity at Ireland West Airport Knock, increasing its share of the Irish regional market to the UK to almost 20 per cent.
