Hoof It to Turlough for fun donkey day

A special donkey day is taking place at the grounds of the Museum of Country Life, Turlough, tomorrow (Saturday) from 12 noon to 4 pm.

The Hoof It! Annual Donkey Day will see teams from the Sathya Sai donkey sanctuary in Sligo and the Mayo Donkey Sanctuary in Kiltimagh offer visitors an opportunity to meet the donkeys, watch hoof trimming and see a feeding demonstration.

Flynn’s Bar, Castlebar, will host the National Singing Championship

The National Singing Championships comes to Mayo and more importantly it is coming exclusively to Flynn’s Bar, Castlebar. The heats for this singing contest begin on Saturday, August 23 and are open to singer/musicians, two piece and three piece bands.

The contest also caters for singers who wish to sing karaoke style with a backing track. The contest is open to everyone over 18 years old, and all budding singers can register by texting, ‘register me for Flynn’s’ along with their name and mobile phone number to 087 7724453 or by calling into the bar before any of the heats. The competition will run for four weeks in total, with three weeks of heats and a grand final. Each week of the heats, five acts will qualify for the final in Flynn’s Bar on Saturday, September 13.
