Iconic Claremorris singer remembered in Turlough

Claremorris ballad singer Delia Murphy, of ‘The Spinning Wheel’ fame, will be remembered tomorrow in the Museum of Country Life, Turlough, to launch National Heritage Week at the museum.

At 3pm there will be a special performance called Remember Delia Murphy in Story and Song, filled with the songs, story, and family pictures of the iconic singer, presented and performed by Delia’s niece Carmen Cullen.

With musical accompaniment by Gerry Anderson and a reading from Carmen’s new novel Two Sisters Singing, it sets the scene of 1940s Ireland.
