Mike Denver returns to the Royal on Friday, December 14. Voted Vocalist of the Year, 2012, at The Country Music Entertainment Awards, this is the second year Mike has scooped this coveted award, and it is no wonder why. With an excellent and distinctive voice, and an extremely talented band, Mike is one of the hardest working musicians and is in big demand at home and abroad, with a packed gigging schedule.

Mike will no doubt perform his Christmas single, ‘We'll Be Home Christmas Time’ and other Christmas classics, as well as his popular dance songs. Laugh out loud with one of Ireland’s favourite comics Conal Gallen

Just coming off the back of his record-breaking stand-up television show, Conal Gallen – Laugh Out Loud, Ireland’s number one comedian, is coming to the Royal Theatre, Castlebar, for what promises to be one of the funniest shows you are ever likely to see. The Artist next on the silver screen at Linenhall Film Club

The next screening at Linenhall Film Club is the universally acclaimed Oscar-winning film The Artist. Travel back to a golden age of cinema in this enchanting comedic tribute to silent films. It is 1927, and the handsome, debonaire, George Valentin (Jean Dujardin) is Hollywood’s biggest star. Unhappily married, he unwittingly steals the heart of unknown extra Peppy Miller (Bérénice Bejo), who dreams of stardom. When the studio converts to the ‘talkies’, Valentin takes it upon himself to keep the silent era alive, risking his career and his fortune. Needing little introduction at this stage, The Artist became the most awarded French film in history, scooping three Golden Globes, seven BAFTAs, and five Oscars for this highly entertaining romantic comedy-drama. Christmas Céili coming up

The Skreen/Dromard set dancing group organises a Christmas céili each year at the local community centre which is situated on the main Ballina to Sligo road opposite the Fiddlers Elbow. This year they have organised their annual ceili for Saturday, December 8 at the earlier time of 9pm. Music on the night is provided by the Copperplate Céilí Band. The proceeds of this céilí go to provide much needed funds for the upkeep of the community centre which facilitates programmes for all age groups from playschool to senior citizens. The kitchen staff will be on hand to serve tea and home-made bakes to all who attend. Admission is €10 so why not come along as a good night is assured for all who attend. Emma Bourke glass exhibition opens tonight Castlebar

Opening this evening Friday, November 30 at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar is Flora lucid, a beautiful exhibition of glass sculptures by Mayo artist Emma Bourke. Emma is a visual artist working mainly in the medium of glass. Her artistic practice is inspired by the natural environment in the west of Ireland, and the wild flowers and plants that populate the countryside. Captivated by these enchanting plants, Emma creates collections of these wild flowers out of glass, eternally capturing their beauty.

Julie Feeney is coming back to the Linenhall

Multi-award-winning singer-composer Julie Feeney returns to the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar for a very special concert on Monday, December 10 at 8pm.

Julie has performed sell-out shows across America, Ireland, England, France, Italy, Germany, Canada and Holland with her own ensemble and numerous orchestras. Her third album is due for release this autumn, and she is currently working on her first opera commission. Sharp witted, unpretentious and fiercely passionate, Julie’s sound is unquestionably original, rooted in classical music while comfortably straddling pop and theatre. As part of an innovative national project and tour, Julie will be scoring music for and working with 10 different local choirs, each of which will part-accompany her at their local performance venue. The choir appearing with Julie for this very special performance at the Linenhall is St Joseph’s Secondary School, Castlebar.
