Delorentos bring their Little Sparks winter tour to Castlebar

Finbar Hoban presents one of Ireland’s finest touring bands, Delorentos, this Christmas at the Royal Theatre Castlebar on Friday, December 28, at 9pm. Having released Little Sparks, one of the most stand-out albums of 2012, thrilling audiences throughout the summer from Benicassim to Electric Picnic, Delorentos have embarked on a winter tour, which will stop off for a rocking set in Castlebar before the New Year.

Their recent self-released album Little Sparks (their third top 20 album ), saw them set up pop-up shops in disused spaces to promote the record, in addition to having produced a full-colour magazine to package a four-track EP, that preceded the album.

The Little Sparks album has been hailed as their best music to date with many four and five star reviews: Support on the night comes from Mia Sparrow. The Dublin/New York/Kosovo based three piece Mia Sparrow use guitars, drums, synths, omnichord, and samples to make noise rooted in melody. Since forming in June 2009 Paul and Ger, from Castlebar and Caroline, from Tipperary, have toured Ireland and played a Blue Music showcase at the Fiddler's Elbow in Camden Town, London.

In 2010, with just a few home recordings under their belt, Mia Sparrow were chosen as one of five acts to play the Best of IMRO showcase in Dublin. They were subsequently invited to record a four-track session for the Dan Hegarty show on RTE 2FM which was broadcast in spring 2011. Having released their debut seven inch single, “Death of a Decibel”, on Flaming June records in July 2011 the band released their debut album to rave reviews earlier this year. Tickets cost €15 and are now on sale from the Royal Box office and Downtown Records Castlebar. For more info go to www.finbarhobanpresents.com
