The Galway senior football squad fly from Shannon Airport today (Thursday) to JFK airport ahead of the start of the Connacht Championship against New York on Sunday evening (8pm Irish time).

Team manager Kevin Walsh is not taking anything for granted, insisting the management team and panel will be giving New York the full respect they deserve.

Galwegians u12s, sponsored by the Connacht Hotel, are taking part in the renowned London Irish Festival Tournament this weekend. The tournament boasts 48 teams from Britain, Holland, Germany, and Ireland, including Blackrock, Garryowen and Belfast Instonians.

The team, which is managed by Mickey Sherlock, is currently on a winning streak, having won the Eric O’Connor Cup in September 2014 and lately the Shannon RFC Underage Rugby Tournament.
