Galway’s bid for a third consecutive Very National League camogie Division 1A title was dealt a blow on Saturday. An Eimear McGrath inspired Tipperary won out 3-10 to 1-13 in a rip-roaring Round 2 encounter at The Ragg.

The most important game of the Basketball Ireland Superleague season for Maigh Cuilinn beckons this Saturday, March 2. They will head south to play Killorglin, who also face a relegation threat.
The somewhat arbitrary division of teams into a Northern and Southern Conference has left Maigh Cuilinn (Southern Conference) facing the possibility of being relegated. The bottom team from each conference is relegated each season, and Maigh Cuilinn may go down despite finishing several places above teams in the Northern Conference who would remain in the Superleague next season.

The Galway Intermediate Camogie team bounced back from defeat against Cork as they overcame Clare by eleven points in Inagh on Saturday. Three first half goals in the space of four minutes was key to success.
It was Clare who started the brightest with two Aisling Cooney frees. Chloe Broderick replied with Galway’s opening score in the tenth minute. Then three goals from the sticks of Mairead Dillion, Aoife Kelly and Katie Donohue between the 14th and 18th minutes really laid the marker for the Galway side's victory as they earned an eight point lead.

On the week where Maigh Cuilinn native James Connaire was called up to the Irish Senior Men’s squad, his team were unable to overcome a polished Griffith College Éanna outfit who left Galway with a well deserved 65 to 90 road win.
After a back and forth initial two and a half quarters, the visitors from Dublin exploded late in the third quarter. They would push on after that to truly blow out a Maigh Cuilinn side that now faces three final games this season to save themselves from relegation.

The battle of the top two teams in the JP Flanagan Leinster U20 League with the result having a major bearing on where the league title would go. Corinthians and Dublin University were the teams coming into this battle, and after eighty minutes of sublime rugby from both sides, it was Corinthians who came out on top by just a single point.
The win was significant for Corinthians because it extended the Galway team’s lead at the top of the Division to nine points with just four games remaining against Buccaneers, St Mary’s College, Greystones and UCD.
