Even with only a few minutes to go last Sunday afternoon in Kenny Park and with both sides vying for their first senior title in a long time, and nothing between the sides on the scoreboard, there was a really muted atmosphere in the ground. There was barely a murmur on the packed terraces and the stand was never in any potential danger of being shook to the rafters.

The Maigh Cuilinn Intermediate footballers will have to bring their “A” game to Pearse Stadium this Sunday (2pm) to beat a highly rated Hollymount side in the Connacht Intermediate football final.
Michael Donnellan’s charges were comprehensive victors over Ml Glavey’s on a score-line of 2-16 to 2-7 in their semi-final in Hyde Park.

Abbeyknockmoy hurlers collected their third intermediate title on Saturday when they defeated Maigh Cuilinn by 1-16 to 0-13 in Kenny Park, Athenry.
The Abbey men were full value for their success. They led by 0-7 to 0-5 at half time, and once Padraig O'Donnell scored a crucial goal, they never looked likely to be caught.
