Seanad Éireann has a very limited electorate, with the only members of the public allowed a say in who sits there being university graduates.

However as Seanad candidate Niall Ó Brolcháin points out, more than 97,000 electors are registered to vote on the NUI panel and for Seanad candidates seeking a seat on that panel, every one of those votes count.

Mr Ó Clochartaigh has been nominated by the party to run for the Seanad’s Agricultural Panel. He is one of four candidates the party is running for the Upper House of the Oireachtas.
