Druid to host free public reading on Saturday

Canadian Theatre Company MacKenzieRo is in Galway this week to perform Enda Walsh’s Bedbound, but they will also be doing a free public reading of a new work.

MacKenzieRo will present a public reading of their work in development, The Rake’s Progress: Do You Know Where Tom Rakewell Is? in the Druid Lane Theatre this Saturday at 4pm.

The piece was conceived and compiled by Cathy Murphy and Autumn Smith of MacKenzieRo and was inspired by William Hogarth’s paintings and Igor Stravinsky’s opera of the same name.

A number of Galway based actors will be involved in the reading including Emma O’Grady, Feilim O’hAoláin and Conan Sweeny. They will be joined by Maria Anastacia Keogh, Cathy Belton, and Mikel Murfi. There will also be music from Saskia Tomkins.

Admission is free and all are welcome. Seating is limited and early arrival is advised.
