Console launches annual memorial walk

Hundreds will take to the streets on Sunday May 15 for Console’s Suicide Prevention and Postvention Memorial Walk. The walk is in aid of the Suicide Bereaved and Suicide Prevention Service and will be started by Michael D Higgins. Console is calling on families, friends, school friends and work colleagues to take to the streets and support a worthy cause.

The owner of five star Zenith Hairdressing on Eyre Street, Paul has an impressive resume at home and abroad, working at the highest level as an educator, platform artist, a photographic contributor to countless publications, and he has gained numerous qualifications and awards. The award is the culmination of 20 years of dedicated work in his field and he becomes the only person in Ireland to be honoured in this way.

In censuses past, the job of gathering all in one room and filling out the forms fell to the person known as the Head of the Household.

Galway received a significant employment boost on Tuesday when Avaya announced it is creating 75 new positions at their offices in Mervue Business Park. The jobs are part of the company’s new Customer Experience Centre, which opened with a special ribbon cutting ceremony by Michael Bayer, president of Avaya’s field operations in Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Barry O’Leary, CEO of the Industrial Development Authority Ireland.
