County nursing homes could be next if St Francis’ closes, warns councillor

A city councillor has warned that if St Francis’ public nursing home in the city is closed she fears for the future of other public facilities, such as St Anne’s Community Nursing Home in Clifden, Aras Mhuire in Tuam, Aras Ronan on the Aran Islands and Units 5 and 6 in Merlin Park Hospital as well as Clifden District Hospital.

THE THIRD Colours White Lantern Parade takes place this Saturday at 5pm where lanterns will be released into the sky to signify the passing of another year.
The annual event will start outside Brown Thomas, moving down through Shop Street and finishing in the Spanish Arch. From there, 11 lanterns will be released into the sky. The Galway District Court heard how Hipolito Seijas Barreiro, with an address given as Monivea Road, Mervue, and Ruislip Manor, Letteragh Road, Rahoon, was arrested and charged on the morning of the court.
