Flahavan’s is inviting families across Ireland to take the porridge pledge, making a positive change to their daily breakfast routines and incorporating healthy, wholesome, porridge oats into their diets to start each day right.
Porridge has emerged as one of the nation’s most popular breakfast options through lockdown. Research carried out by Bord Bia highlighted that families now have more time to enjoy meals together (41 per cent) and that 31 per cent are choosing familiar favourite foods more often as a result of the lockdown.

First on the list is a hot apple cider rum punch. This drink encompasses all of the classic autumnal flavours, from spices to seasonal fruits. This tasty drink can be created using eight cups of apple cider, sliced apple, sliced orange, two cinnamon sticks, and two cups of dark rum. Simply combine all the ingredients in a large pot and bring to the boil. Gradually reduce heat and allow to simmer for five minutes. A tasty hot drink with a kick.

A new online farmers market launched this week in Connemara. Called NeighbourFood, this is a fresh new way to do your weekly shop. Its aim is to create a link between local producers and local people, and it will run every week at An Tulach in Baile na hAbhann, next door to TG4.
“NeighbourFood is a really easy way to get the best local produce and at the same time support local producers near you,” says chef Diarmuid Ó Mathúna, who will be running the market. “Each week members can place an order on neighbourfood.ie and then collect a basket full of goodies the following Wednesday evening.”
