A: Every time you go for a job, you must believe that the opposition is of a high quality. To think otherwise is to court complacency and that’s no ally in any competitive process.

HSA launches two-week inspection campaign on safe machinery operations in quarries

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) are carrying out a two-week quarry safety inspection campaign to focus on safe machinery operation, machinery guarding and maintenance activities.

HSA inspectors will be conducting quarry safety inspections focusing on the key hazards that exist when operating quarry machinery or while carrying out machinery maintenance in quarries and associated manufacturing premises. Inspectors will also focus on ensuring that safe work practices and proactive measures are in place to reduce the risk of incidents, including serious or fatal injury.

Galway city labour catchment is home to 30% of workers in the Western Region

The Galway City labour catchment is the largest labour catchment in the Western Region with over 88,000 living there and ‘at work’. This accounts for 29.9% of all Western Region resident workers (294,878), up from 26.9% in 2016 (260,261). The town labour catchment is that area from which a town draws most of its’ workforce, making it a very useful measure of labour supply.
