How to turn a quick job spell to your advantage in an interview

Q: I have an interview next week and I’m afraid they will pick up on the fact that I have only been in my current job 13 months. In reality, I took a step downwards for this job after the previous company I was in closed, (not my fault, I hasten to add, the market had moved on and the company ran out of road). This opportunity now offers me a chance to get back doing what I did and at an even higher level where I will be managing people. But will the last 13 months go against me in the interview? A: When it comes to career development, we tend to be far too influenced by what happened recently. Recency bias, anyone? We need to develop the capacity to look at our careers in a more rounded way and to place events in context. Relevance is more important than chronology, as I've written here more than once.

Q: At an interview I attended last week, I felt the panel had designated one interviewer as a ‘good cop’, while another played the role of ‘bad cop’. Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s how it looked and felt to me. The good cop would ask the soft question and the bad cop would follow up with some probing ones. Credit Unions are the most trusted financial institutions in the country

Credit Unions top the list of financial service providers in terms of consumer confidence, with over half of respondents (51%) to a new survey by Peopl Insurance reporting a high level of trust in the financial institution, compared to 39% of people who would place this same level of trust in An Post, and 18% who feel the same about traditional banks.

A new survey from Peopl Insurance of 1,000 people nationwide sought to gain insight into the levels of consumer trust towards four key financial institutions, and found that traditional banks and Fin Techs such as Revolut or N26 fall short, while Credit Unions top the bill, followed by An Post.
