Chambers Ireland’s Chief Executive, Ian Talbot,has welcomed the stufy showing that more gender balance is coming to the baords of Irish companies.

Mr Talbot, said that the significant improvements since 2021, and in particular the increase in both the number of women CEOs, and the number of women who are Chairs of Boards, are particularly welcome. Seeing the number of women-led businesses rise from being only one-in-seven in 2021 to almost one-in-five in 2023 demonstrate how quickly change can happen when businesses and boards prioritise female appointments.

Galway stores champion environmental change

SuperValu Loughrea and Centra Lough Atalia have joined forces with SEAI (Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland) to spearhead environmental change in the retail sector, demonstrating their commitment to energy reduction and sustainable business.

The Galway stores used the SEAI grant to add solar panels in both stores, the results of which is the energy equivalent of powering 36 Irish houses per year. These new energy efficient upgrades, combined with previous works in store amount to 153,200 KWH of energy per year, an overall carbon reduction of 34% for SuperValu Loughrea, and 60% for Centra Lough Atalia.
