Building a culture of learning

Placing Learning and Development (L&D ) at the centre of a company’s culture is a reliable way of strengthening engagement, skills acquisition and other capabilities to drive better business performance. This strategy empowers upskilling and equips workers with what they need in today’s changing workplace and global economy.

Rosemarie Ryan, director of organisational development and engagement at Chanelle Pharma, believes companies can set themselves up for success if they create an effective L&D culture programme.

“My report confirms that upskilling and learning remain top priorities for employees in today’s competitive job market. Any organisation that is truly L&D driven will be intentional in upskilling its workforce.

“L&D is a key priority. It offers opportunities for growth, flexibility, wellbeing and purpose. It is an indispensable way for forward-thinking organisations to prepare for what’s over the horizon.”

At Chanelle, they have embedded a new 30, 60, 90-day onboarding employee experience. It aims to create a space where its individuals and managers clearly understand their role, career outlook and the tools needed to grow professionally.

L&D is a three-pronged approach. 1. Embracing a growth mindset to focus on developing talent through hard and soft skills development. 2. Promoting belonging at work so that individuals feel empowered to speak up and speak out. 3. Fostering health and wellbeing and a healthy and happy workforce.
