Three footballers from Galway clubs, Peter Fahy (Salthill-Knocknacarra), Shane Maher (St James) and Darren Walsh (Killanin) had a big win last weekend in Gaelic Park (New York) when they played starring roles for Leitrim in that club's exciting 2-12 to 3-6 win over Kerry in the east coast championship.

The championship certainly came alive last weekend, as teams once again battled it out to stay in the hunt for championship honours.

Rice a doubt for Carrickshock 

A rampaging O’Loughlin Gaels side won the Kilkenny under 14 league final in Clara this week, with the club having already claimed All-Ireland titles, in both hurling and football, this year already.

The O'Loughlin Gaels under 14 team retained their Kilkenny Feile na nGael championship title last weekend in Thomastown. O'Loughlin’s played four matches on the way to the final, beating John Lockes of Callan, Thomastown, Clara and Freshford en route. In the final they met city rivals James Stephens.

On Sunday Dicksboro defeated Mullinavat to take the Intermediate title winning by a single point 2-12 to 2-11.

O’Loughlin Gaels retained the prestigious Lisdowney 7s under 13 hurling tournament over the weekend. In a very tough competition the Niall Bergin trained boys beat Ballyhale Shamrocks, Dicksboro and then James Stephens in the final.

A fantastic panel of players from O'Loughlin Gaels GAA club and Kilkenny were represented in the 2010 Feile na nGael which took place in county Clare.

Junior squash kicked off in earnest this weekend with Galway LTC hosting the Connacht Junior Squash Championships and it turned out to be quite a weekend for Carlow’s young squash players.
