O’Loughlin Gaels retained the prestigious Lisdowney 7s under 13 hurling tournament over the weekend. In a very tough competition the Niall Bergin trained boys beat Ballyhale Shamrocks, Dicksboro and then James Stephens in the final.
These boys would have all been members of the successful Feile na nGael team and will now be fully concentrating on their bid to win the under 14 championship when it gets underway.
The winning team: Robbie Buckley, Gary Bryan, Daniel O’Connor, Sean Bolger, Jack Lawlor (captain ), Ross Butler, Thomas Gleeson, Shane Maher, Cian Loy, Sean Kiely.
O’Loughlin under 8s
The O’Loughlin Gaels under 8 team played three great games under Go Games rules in last weekends Danesfort tournament. First up was Ballyhale Shamrocks then a game against James Stephens and finally a great game against Danesfort. The team put in a great effort all day and the future is indeed bright for the St Johns Parish club.

Alyward Cup final
The O’Loughlin Gaels senior team had something of an off day against St Martins, last Sunday evening, in the Alyward Cup final, played in Freshford.
In a very poor game St Martins had the better forwards on the day and took their three goal chances when they got them. O’Loughlins on the other hand, had thirteen wides in the first half alone. St Martins ran out winners on a scoreline of 3-13 to 0-16.
O’Loughlin Gaels players represent Kilkenny
Congratulations to the following O’Loughlin Gaels players who represented Kilkenny at various levels over the weekend. Danny Bolger and Ben Leydon at the under 14 Tony Forristal tournament in Waterford. Davy Burke and Brian Cantwell at under 16 level and Mark Croghan at under 17 level.
Best of luck to our players on the Kilkenny Minor team on Sunday — Paddy Delaney and Anthony Forristal. Also all in O’Loughlin’s would like to wish Martin Comerford the best when he is introduced on Sunday and the club would like to commiserate with Brian Hogan on missing out on the final through injury. Brian is set to be out injured for six weeks, but hopefully he might play some part in the local championship.
