Niamh Murray from Moate Community School with her teacher Lisa Doyle scooped third place at the recent Student Enterprise Awards national finals. Her business, Once Upon a Rhyme, brought traditional nursery rhymes back into the 21st century with her wonderful catchy artwork on a range of products.

Moate Community School has had two projects shortlisted for this year’s Young Social Innovator of the Year awards. They are part of 61 projects which were shortlisted from over 400 entries. The overall winner will be announced at the annual awards and showcase in Dublin on May 6.

Sixty stalls have been confirmed for the inaugural Moate Christmas Market, which takes place on Main Street, Moate this Sunday December 14. Westmeath County Council confirmed this week that they have allocated €2,000 towards the cost of running the market.

This Friday night, December 5, Moate Partnership Group will host a table quiz from 9pm in Eamon Coughlan’s Lounge to raise funds for Moate Christmas lights.

The winners of this year’s All-Island Schools Choir Competition, Moate Community School, will be taking part in the annual Samaritan Christmas Concert.
