Vote now for your favourite Junk Kouture finalists

There is just one more day left to get your votes in for your favourite Westmeath finalist in this year’s Junk Kouture competition.

Some 25 Westmeath entries have made the shortlist for the Western regional final, which takes place in the Royal Theatre, Castlebar on Wednesday March 11. The grand final of the Bank of Ireland Junk Kouture Recycled Fashion Competition, featuring the top 80 designs from across the country, will take place in the 3Arena, Dublin on April 24.

Our Lady’s Bower, Athlone boasts 11 finalists in this year’s competition; they are ‘Nothing But Net’, ‘Fruta de los reyes’, ‘Miss Umbrellic’, ‘That Auto Do It’, ‘Boxed In’, ‘Incognito’, ‘Spec-tacular’, ‘Rose Renaissance’, ‘Caution Couture’, ‘Disctopian’, and ‘Lime & Co’.

There are six finalists from Moate Community School: ‘Pretty Polly Perfect’, ‘Technology Unlocked’, ‘Global Goddess’, ‘Mediva’, ‘Swanderella’, and ‘Woven Data’.

The three finalists from Athlone Community College are ‘Maid of Silver’, ‘Let Them Eat Cake’, and ‘Fallen Angel’, while St Joseph’s College Summerhill also has three - ‘Urban Bird’, ‘Truly Puzzling’, and ‘Go Conker’.

There is also one from Mercy Secondary School, Kilbeggan entitled ‘Colour in the world’, and one from St Joseph’s Secondary School, Rochfortbridge, ‘Princess Rose’.

Members of the public have until this Friday February 27 to vote for their favourite young designers, with 10 per cent of the overall results based on online votes. For more information and to vote, visit www.facebook.com/junkkouture
