This Friday night, December 5, Moate Partnership Group will host a table quiz from 9pm in Eamon Coughlan’s Lounge to raise funds for Moate Christmas lights.
This year Moate is hoping to move to energy saving LED light bulbs. The changeover including 500 metres of new cable will cost the Partnership Group over €10,000.
Chairman of Moate Partnership Group, Michael O’Brien said, “The annual energy costs were becoming unsustainable, and much of the cable is past its lifespan at this stage. The initial costs of moving to LED are very costly; however once we make the move, the new energy costs will be cut dramatically.
“Traders and local organisations can help by joining or renewing their membership with the Partnership Group, local residents can help out by attending our table quiz or making a donation to the Moate Partnership Group Credit Union account.”
The people of Moate are also asking members of the local community to shop local this Christmas and support their Christmas market on Sunday December 14. The market will take place along the town centre footpath from Galvin’s Gifts to The Grand Hotel from 4-8pm.
There will be over 60 stalls with products including fine foods, local produce, crafts, Christmas gift ideas and lots more as well as entertainment from All-Island School Choir competition winners from Moate Community School and other local musicians.
Organisers have also arranged plenty of children’s entertainment throughout the evening including a merry-go-round, and of course a visit from Santa!
Anyone interested in becoming a member of Moate Partnership Group can pick up a subscription form at The Pantry, Moate or email [email protected].
