Moate student wins at enterprise awards

Niamh Murray from Moate Community School with her teacher Lisa Doyle scooped third place at the recent Student Enterprise Awards national finals. Her business, Once Upon a Rhyme, brought traditional nursery rhymes back into the 21st century with her wonderful catchy artwork on a range of products.

Laura Johnson and Kate Nally of Perky Pegs and Jazmine Swaris of Light Up Your Occasion, assisted by teacher Julie Horgan, also represented Westmeath at the awards ceremony.

Speaking at the awards ceremony Stephen Walshe, chair of the Enterprise Education Committee with the Local Enterprise Offices, praised the work of the students and schools: “Every year, the Student Enterprise Awards encourage students from all over the country, to develop new enterprise concepts and products, learning about the business world in a ‘hands on’ way. Now that they’ve started their entrepreneurial journey in the classroom, the Local Enterprise Offices are there to help them with their aspiring businesses in the future too.”
