Fifteen schools in Westmeath to receive funding

A significant funding allocation for 15 schools in Westmeath as part of the Summer Works Scheme has been announced.

Funding will go to a variety of primary schools and secondary schools in Westmeath including Athlone Mixed NS; St Joseph’s College, Summerhill; Moate Community School; and Our Lady’s Bower, Athlone.

The investment is the final part of the current Summer Works Scheme and will bring total investment in small and medium scale works in primary and post-primary schools under the scheme to more than €108m.

This round of funding, totalling €36m nationally, will enable a variety of works to be carried out in primary and secondary schools such as window repair and replacement, upgrading of science and specialist rooms and external improvements such as upgrading of school perimeter fences and walls.

The majority of works will be carried out over the summer months to minimise disruption to students, teachers, and other school staff.
