A new exhibition celebrating the historic links between one of Mayo’s greatest patriots, Michael Davitt, and the Scottish football club, Glasgow Celtic, was officially opened at the Michael Davitt Museum in Straide last Friday.

Approval given to hand over land to Foxford Alzheimer’s Day Care Centre

The Swinford Electoral Area Committee this week gave initial approval for Mayo County Council to give a half-acre site to the Foxford Alzheimer’s Day Care Centre on a 99-year lease for a nominal fee. The patch of land is located on Admiral Browne Road, Foxford beside a portion of land that the council has already given for the construction of a medical centre in the future.

Further €180,000 secured for Foxford riverside project

Foxford based Fianna Fáil councillor Jimmy Maloney has welcomed the allocation of €178,656 from Mayo North East Leader Company towards the completion of a half a million euro public amenity at Green Road in the town.

Foxford gearing up for festival fun

Foxford Fest 2008, is a free, one day family friendly event on the streets of Foxford. The festival will take place this year on Saturday August 16 from 5pm to 9pm. The excitement surrounding the inaugural Foxford festival has been building up and a evening of fun and entertainment will take over the upper Main Street in the town from 5pm to 9pm.

Foxford festival gearing up for launch

The day is almost upon us, and the excitement surrounding the inaugural Foxford Festival is at fever pitch. Families in the Foxford and District, area are delighted to hear that Upper Main Street in the town will be full of fun food, and festivities on Saturday August 16 from 5pm to 9 pm. The evening will include live music on the street, comprising of traditional, folk rock, and blues. Among the groups featured are John McHugh and friends, Celtica, and Dave Howley and guests, featuring Pa Roche, Mick Smyth, Suzzette Ruane, John Langan, and many more. Another feature of the evening will be the children’s entertainment, consisting of bouncy castles, face painting, balloon show, slides, etc and a monster barbecue, and the entire event is absolutely free.

Foxfest ready to roll this Saturday

The re-scheduled Foxford Fest will take place on Upper Main Street, Foxford tomorrow Saturday 27 September from 5pm to 9pm. Featuring live street music, children’s entertainment, barbecue. This event is absokutely free, put the date in your diary and make sure you tell all your family and friends. Organised by Foxford Development Association and sponsored by the businesses of Foxford.

Maloney welcomes Community Futures Action Plan for Foxford

Last week confirmation was received by Councillor Jimmy Maloney that Foxford, through Foxford Development Association, has been successful in its application to Mayo County Community Forum for a Community Futures Action Plan.
