The day is almost upon us, and the excitement surrounding the inaugural Foxford Festival is at fever pitch. Families in the Foxford and District, area are delighted to hear that Upper Main Street in the town will be full of fun food, and festivities on Saturday August 16 from 5pm to 9 pm. The evening will include live music on the street, comprising of traditional, folk rock, and blues. Among the groups featured are John McHugh and friends, Celtica, and Dave Howley and guests, featuring Pa Roche, Mick Smyth, Suzzette Ruane, John Langan, and many more. Another feature of the evening will be the children’s entertainment, consisting of bouncy castles, face painting, balloon show, slides, etc and a monster barbecue, and the entire event is absolutely free.
So be sure to tell your family, relatives and friends to come along, meet old friends, and make some new ones, in a relaxed carnival-type atmosphere. This community event, which is organised by the Foxford Development Association, and sponsored by the Foxford Business Community, gets under way with children’s entertainment from 5pm to 7pm a barbeque from 6pm to 8pm. and a feast of live music from 6 pm to 9pm.
For safety considerations Main Street will be closed to traffic from the early afternoon to the conclusion of the event, and the organisers are seeking the co operation and goodwill of all concerned. As you can appreciate, there is a lot of work involved in running an event of this nature, and we would greatly welcome a call from anyone who would like to volunteer their time on Saturday August 16 .
