The Artist next on the silver screen at Linenhall Film Club

The next screening at Linenhall Film Club is the universally acclaimed Oscar-winning film The Artist. Travel back to a golden age of cinema in this enchanting comedic tribute to silent films. It is 1927, and the handsome, debonaire, George Valentin (Jean Dujardin) is Hollywood’s biggest star. Unhappily married, he unwittingly steals the heart of unknown extra Peppy Miller (Bérénice Bejo), who dreams of stardom. When the studio converts to the ‘talkies’, Valentin takes it upon himself to keep the silent era alive, risking his career and his fortune. Needing little introduction at this stage, The Artist became the most awarded French film in history, scooping three Golden Globes, seven BAFTAs, and five Oscars for this highly entertaining romantic comedy-drama.
