Government to fund €100,000 towards purchase of Moorehall

Minister Michael Ring has confirmed that the Government has provided €100,000 towards the purchase of Moorehall Estate on Lough Carra.

The estate, which has been acquired by Mayo County Council, comprises some 80 acres of woodland estate overlooking Lough Carra including the house, courtyard, and walled garden.

Northwest was blocked from European Transport Funding and removed from strategic Ten-T list — Chambers

Lisa Chambers, Fianna Fáil TD for Mayo has said the northwest was blocked from European Transport Funding by Fine Gael and removed from strategic Ten-T list by the then minister for transport, Leo Varadkar

Speaking on Thursday, Dep Chambers said: "Information released today shows that in 2011 the then transport minister Leo Varadkar purposely removed key transport projects in the North West from Ireland's application to the European Union's Ten-T funding programme and effectively wiped the northwest off the map. This had the effect of precluding key transport projects from receiving any EU funding before 2030 and possibly even longer."

Agencies thanked as Council confirm Moy oil spill probe continues

Independent councillor Gerry Ginty raised the issue at the March meeting of the Ballina Municipal District this week asking for an update on the progress of the investigation into the spill.

Belcarra man in charity skydive in memory of his late mother
