Dear Frankie comes to Mayo
Dear Frankie is a play is about the life story of the iconic Radio Éireann agony aunt, Frankie Byrne. She hosted a show for over 22 years with an unwavering format; she'd read out a letter someone had written in with a personal problem, and then she'd give her very forthright, practical assessment of the situation and then she'd play a Frank Sinatra number, to underpin the emotional content of the problem. Nuala Hayes plays the role of Frankie Byrne, and has received rave reviews for her portrayal and Dorothy Cotter and Donagh Deeney play over 50 characters between them in the show. The show will take to the stage in Áras Inis Gluaire in Belmullet on Friday April 15 and in Tourmakeady Hall on Saturday April 16.
