Foxford parish and community celebrate with James Kilbane Gospel concert

Fri, Sep 27, 2013

Leading Irish country singer James Kilbane brings his country gospel concert at the Foxford, Church of Ireland church, Market Square, Foxford, on Sunday October 13 starting at 8pm. Built in 1801, the church has been an important part of the local history of Foxford and its surrounding area for the past 212 years. Time has taken its toll and continued work is necessary to keep the church in a usable state for parishioners. The primary reason for the James Kilbane concert is to help towards fund-raising for the church restoration which is ongoing and will also help keep the church open for the community. There has been continuous work needed. The tower was added around 1820 and continues to have dampness. The outside render on all the church needs to be replaced and is problematic in trapping moisture which is also a huge job to repair. All work where possible is carried out by the parishioners voluntarily and all support to the community is greatly appreciated. All traditions are very welcome and the concert event will be a wonderful opportunity for all to celebrate and foster the ecumenical ties which have always been strong in Foxford and the wider parish area. For more information contact Andrea at 086 2617572 or 094 9256403. All are very welcome for the event with James Kilbane. The concert starts at 8pm and doors will open at 7.30pm.
