A number of new developments are currently taking place in Westport with new outlets set to open very soon at the busy Tesco Westpoint Shopping Centre and Lidl putting the finishing touches to its new store on the Demesne road (off the Newport Road). Connacht Gold is also progressing well with its massive new development on the Lodge Road - which will include a garden centre and generate a dozen new jobs in the process, while on the opposite side, the Westport Business Park continues to develop in time for its new clients due to move in in the new year. Also in Ballina a number of new developments are set to go public in the near future. Watch this space!

The annual Deloitte consumer survey of Christmas spending predicts that Irish consumers will once again be the highest spenders in Europe this festive season, despite the fact that the average spend per household in Ireland will be €943, down from €1,020 in 2010 and a reduction of €411 since 2008.
