Connacht are facing an injury crisis ahead of tomorrow evening’s Magners League clash against title-chasing Edinburgh at the Galway Sportsground (6pm).
Missing from action is an entire back row of captain John Muldoon, openside Ray Ofisa, and No 8 George Naoupu, while both key centres Keith Matthews and Niva Ta’auso are also on the injured list. Add in wing Liam Bibo and prop Robbie Morris, and Connacht are struggling with numbers, not only ahead of tomorrow’s fixture but the crucial Amlin Cup quarter-final next week.

• Galway County badminton team enjoyed a famous win in the All Ireland inter-county finals at NUIG sports centre. Having advanced from the qualifying weekend, Galway faced Roscommon in what proved a tight All-Ireland semi final. Early nerves and a couple of tight set losses saw the team trail Roscommon 3-2 in the best of nine, but a great win in the first ladies’ doubles saw Galway draw 3-3. Galway won two of the three mixed games to squeeze through to the All Ireland final 5-3. Up against Meath, Galway got off to a flying start, winning both singles to take a 2-0 lead. Second ladies and second men soon followed to leave Galway in a strong 4-0 lead. It was left to Galway's first doubles pairing of Ross Creaven and Colm Franks to clinch the deciding match to give Galway an unbeatable 5-0 lead and the Class 4 All-Ireland title.
